Mabel, As we affectionately call her, was hand carved in Seekonk, Ma in 1986 by artist Tony Lockwood. She is carved from solid New England oak, and is approximately 5ft tall. She is wrapped in a robe, with one breast exposed. She has long braids and her right hand is holding 2 feathers. The artist inserted wooden shakes around her head and shoulders. He said it gave him feelings of the statue of liberty, as that year, 1986, was an anniversary of the statue and was in the news a lot. The artist, Mr. Lockwood, is now deceased.
